Amma Ariyaan (Training for Parents)

The Little KITEs programme initiated a cyber safety awareness campaign for parents. The main idea behind the ‘Amma Ariyan’ project was to raise awareness among parents about Cybersecurity issues through their children. Subsequently the Little KITEs programme has trained 4,01,160 mothers on the safe usage of smartphones and the internet, setting up and using passwords, safe handling of OTPs and PIN, recognizing fake news and guarding themselves against cyber attacks.

The training programme had a duration of 3 hours, including 5 sessions of 30 minutes each. The first session was an introductory session on new technologies comprising of smart phones, internet and its safe usage. The second session focused on the usage of mobile phones and the safety of passwords such as OTPs and PINs. The unseen side of news which focuses on identifying fake news, filtering them and preventing them formed the third session. The fourth session titled ‘the Traps in Internet’ highlighted on Cyber attacks and precautions to be taken while undertaking online transactions. The final session took the participants through Internet-the World with infinite scope.
