Welcome to the Largest Student ICT Network in the Country

Little KITEs IT Clubs was rolled out with the objective of making students inquisitive and equipped by creating environment to acquire and internalize knowledge. It is the largest ICT network of Students in India, with over 3.80 lakh students benefitted so far (Presently 1.75 lakh members in 2060 schools). The program was aimed at igniting the innate skills of students in creatively using the technology that actually contribute in development of new software, platforms and tools. Further, the program focused on providing opportunities for students to learn different perspectives of ICT tools, especially on a societal angle and also to promote knowledge sharing among other counterparts.

Objectives

Ignite and streamline the innate skills of students in creatively using the technology that actually contribute in the field like development of new software, platforms, tools other than exam grades.

Equip the students to understand the logic and concept pragmatically and to efficiently use the knowledge for productive development.

Leverage the potentials of students by providing them a specific platform for their IT skills, queries and inquisitive growth.

Encourage the natural interest of students in ICT field and to create a culture for appropriate usage of technology and software.

Provide an opportunity for students to learn the different perspectives of ICT tools, so as to make use of them for their learning activities.

Ensure participation of students in the usage and upkeeping of ICT equipments at schools, thereby increasing the productivity of the school is ICT enabled learning.

Empower the students to undertake minor technical issues of ICT equipments and thereby provide technical support in classrooms and IT Labs.

To enrich students on proper and Safe Internet Usage and Cyber Security, and also to inculcate the importance of language computing.

Launch

Hon. Chief Minister, Shri. Pinarayi Vijayan has launched this unique initiative on 22nd January 2018 at Thiruvananthapuram. Apart from imparting knowledge through textbooks, making pupils inquisitive and equipped also becomes the objective of this program. It creates an environment to inspire the students to acquire and internalize the knowledge.

Major Recognitions

In 2023, UNICEF had conducted a detailed study on Little KITEs across the State and has termed it as a Global Edu-model.


In 2022, Little KITEs won the Chief Minister's Award for Innovations in Public Policy.

School Leadership

Training for Little KITEs

Little KITEs students are given intense training in diverse and latest technologies comprises of Animation, Cyber Safety, Malayalam Computing, Hardware, Electronics, Development of Mobile Apps, Programming, Robotics, Artificial Intelligence, E-Commerce, E-Governance, Video Documentation, Web TV etc.

LK members are given special training for at least 4 hours a month, without affecting the school activities and by making use of holidays. The performance of the student members would be evaluated at the year end and they would be awarded Certificates with Grades of A/B/C. KITE would provide financial assistance to schools towards the activities of the IT Clubs. Those Clubs who fail to perform well, would be de-recognised. Students who are not part of any other clubs but shows interest in IT are given preference to be members of Little KITEs.
